Winter @ HiLine Lake
An Amazing Winter Wonderland...
Here at HiLine Lake you'll discover the many wonderful things about winter in Alaska. Ski Sailing, XC skiing, Snow caving, Trekking and the Iditarod all await you and your friends or family here in the Alaskan Bush. We arefrom February 1st through March 31st for the winter season when the conditions are the most favorable. The temperatures are just right for skiing, trekking, sledding and other winter activities.
Ski Sailing is relatively new in Alaska and full of excitment for those who love fun on skis. Want more info? Click Here.
XC Skiing conditions here in the Bush are the kind you only wish you had near home. Unfortunately, you would have to give up roads, cars, people and more to get the untouched snow we have. We get about 8 feet of snow each winter and it packs into a great surface in late winter. With no one to track it up you'll have it all to yourself by skiing only a few minutes away from camp.
Iditarod is the "Last Great Race" covering 1,049 miles from Anchorage to Nome. Witness the mushers come through one of the early checkpoints when they are still in a pack. You'll not only get to see them come in to Skwentna but also feel what it's like to travel through the Alaskan wilderness as they do. For more info click here.
Northern Lights are still one of the most fascinating events the winter sky offers. Everyone, young and old are always amazed when a good show is put on. Being away from the city lights we get an excellent show when they are out and you can have a front row seat here at HiLine Lake.
So whether you are interested in skiing unparelled snow conditions, trying ski sailing, the Nothern Lights, Iditarod or just want some time away from the city pace, join us for a winter outing you'll remember for years to come.
