Family Camps 2003!

Alaska's Wilderness Family Camps 2005...

Camps for the Whole Family...

Families at camp

Come and learn while having a blast in the Alaskan Bush with the whole family! Yes, now you can join your kids in the fun and probably even learn something along the way. All of your trip's memories will be shared together. We offer several camps throughout the winter and summer seasons. For the summer season we offer family camps weekly starting each Saturday. All are 7 days each and as usual, you can create your own 2 to 7 day camp that fits your own schedule. Our winter camps are scheduled upon request during the month of March.

Adult and youth time is divided once each day giving the two generations time to enjoy activities more suited to age. For 2 hours the adult pace is whatever you want it to be and as always, you pick the daily activities you want to participate in. We provide all lodging, meals, activities and Bush transportation for a carefree trip. This is an experience not found at other camps and one that you and your family and friends will talk about over and over.

Family winter camp

Family Winter Camp 2005

These camps are not scheduled and allow you to select any number of days from 2 to 7. We are open during the month of March for family winter camps. You'll be doing so much you'll wish the week was longer: winter camping, trekking, snowshoeing, XC skiing, ski sailing, learning wilderness winter skills and more. Start a fire using 2 sticks; build and sleep in a snow cave; find your way with a GPS; try geocaching and many other activities! You'll leave with confidence in the wilderness, able to get by and actually enjoy future outings in the woods. To see more about our winter camps go to Winter Camps.

Family Summer Camp 2005

Our Family Summer Camps this year will operate for 7 fun and learning filled days. If you and your fanily and friends have wondered about life in the Alaskan Bush wonder no more. Now is your chance to experience the true Alaskan Bush and learn the "ways of the woods" from a group of people that live it every day all year long. We'll teach you some of the tricks and secrets that make Mother Nature your friend. You'll experience and learn more in a week in the Bush than 10 years in town.

We'll hike, rock climb, tree climb, canoe, have canoe tug-o-wars, sail a 13' Banshee sailboat, watch wildlife, start daily campfires without matches, build shelters, play geocaching and a bunch more. With the long Alaskan summer sun we have long fun filled days! To see more about our summer camps go to Summer Camps.

What You'll Do and See...

A 7 day Summer Camp:

During summer there are things you'll see and do not found everywhere. Ever see a sow bear and her cubs? If you are lucky during your camp you probably will. Ever watch a beaver or an eagle? What about moose and giant swans, loons, marten and other Alaskan wildlife? Well, chances are good you'll see all of this and more. Compare your hand to a bear's track. Learn the difference between a cow and bull moose track. Beachcomb a glacier created lake's shore for unusual formations of rock and creatures. Take a packraft trip. Camp overnight in the Alaskan Bush. Wow that sounds like a lot! Wait, there's more!

Ever try to actually sink a canoe? Try it! Ever try to right a flipped over canoe? Try it! What about finding hidden treasure in the wilderness with a GPS? Or how about fishing for the elusive Arctic Char? Try starting a fire with 2 sticks...make a rope from plants!

We offer many exciting activities for young and adult alike: Packrafting, overnight hikes, hatchet throwing, rock climbing, tree climbing like the old timers, making the highly sought after birch bark basket, building your personal backpacking stove that you'll use for years to come (from 3 soda pop cans!) just to name a few. (Note: There's a quick sign up form below for Family Summer Camp dates.) And what about winter stuff?

A 5 or 7 day Winter Camp:

During winter in Alaska there is even more fun than you can imagine! Most people think the Alaskan winter is nothing but cold and dark. The dead of winter, yes. But when you'll be coming the daylight is similar to other latitutes in the lower 48s (if not more) and the temperatures are great for skiing, snowshoeing and many other outdoor activities. We don't stay inside, not us...outside is where all the action is!

Ever try ski sailing? What about snow caving or XC skiing through the pristine wilderness with no other souls around except us. An awesome feeling, for sure. Winter Camp will find us trekking to an outer camp set up for overnight stays. Don't worry about being cold, the large 12' by 20' camp tent is heated and besides, you'll be sweating in your very own snow cave that you built.

With these camps being only 5 to 7 days it's tough to get everything done that we want you to experience but we've had pretty good luck accomplishing just that...Doing it all.
