HiLine Lake Wilderness Camp is a fly-in only Bush camp created for people like you looking for shared experiences in a remote wilderness. Located 65 miles northwest of Anchorage with the Alaska Range, Mt. Foraker and 20,320 foot Denali (Mt. McKinley) in the background, the jade colored waters of pristine HiLine Lake fill the foreground.

In the winter the lake becomes your access to unlimited and untouched X-country skiing, Ski Sailing in Alaska or a trip with our Alaskan style Sherpa service. This wilderness camp features three comfortable cabins, each overlooking the lake. Whether trekking, hiking, X-country skiing, ski sailing, canoeing or just relaxing in Nature's backyard you'll feel right at home with our family's personal service. Try our new Ski Sailing in Alaska this winter and don't forget about the new Geocaching game, a modern electronic treasure hunt, this summer!

Camp Activities

Photography and Wildlife Viewing

Bring your camera and lots of film because nobody back home will believe what you have seen on your Alaskan adventure! Huge bears, soaring eagles, more fish than you can imagine.

Boating and Maritime Skills - Learn how to run and maneuver a boat, general rules of navigation, understanding weather conditions, safety, maritime knot tying, and basic wilderness survival/first aid training.

There is nothing quite like being out on the water, salt spray in your face, riding the waves on your way to the fishing grounds. You'll learn everything you need to know to be a competent sea mariner. How to tie knots and where to use them, rules of navigation, interpreting weather conditions, boat maneuvering and more! You'll even learn the essential survival skills needed to really rough it in the wilderness. You'll be a Salty Sea Dog in no time!

Fishing - Salt Water fishing for Salmon, Halibut, Rockfish, and lingcod. How to catch Alaskan crab and shrimp. Fresh Water for Rainbow/Cutthroat Trout, and Salmon.

Sea Kayaking - Instruction on how to kayak and travel in shallow bays and inlets with ease to view wildlife up close!

There is nothing quite as peaceful as skimming along the ocean tides in a sleek kayak, eye to eye with nature. On your Alaskan adventure we'll teach you how to properly navigate a kayak. Paddling techniques, gear preparation and safety skills are all on the agenda. The only sound you'll hear is your paddle pushing through the waves and the wind whistling across the bow of your kayak. Kayaking provides the perfect opportunity to take photographs and study the amazing sea life of Southeast, Alaska.

Hiking - Explore the Tongass National Rainforest, Beaches, Lakes, and Streams.

Put your boots on - we're heading into the wilderness! What would a trip to Alaska be without a good trek through the woods? The Tongass National Forest is one of the largest temperate rain forests in the world, thick with cedar, hemlock and spruce trees. This area is virtually untouched by man! You'll also be exploring the unique beaches, lakes and streams that make this area so amazing. When you reach the summit of that peak and look out across the vast forest, fjords, inlets and bays, you'll know why explorers risked it all to come to this land for hundreds of years. This is America at its finest!
